Message to the prospective students

Our laboratory focus on biological response to genotoxic damages by ionizing radiation, ROS, UV or other environmental stresses using radiation hyper-sensitive disorders. We are also studying biological effect by low dose irradiation, which is currently interesting for most peoples in Japan.
If you are interested in such research area, please join in our lab as a graduate school student. The MEXT Scholarship candidates after passing primary screening are acceptable for my lab as PhD students. So far, my lab is accepting two students with that system.
Research areas Radiation Biology, Cell Biology
Keywords radiation, DNA damage, DNA repair, cell cycle, oxidative stress, genetic variation
Themes In oreder to clarify radiation-induced DNA damage response and mechanism of genomic stability mentenance, I am focusing on radiation-hypersensitive disorders and responsible genes, and studying following themes.
1. Investigation of radiation-hypersensitive disorders and role of responsible genes in DNA damage responses.
2. Role of oxidative stress (ROS) in biological effects to low dose rate irradiation.
3. Relationship between DNA repair capacity and genetic variation in primates.
