Themes We are trying to clarify the in vivo pathogenicity of HIV using SIV and its HIV chimeric virus (SHIV) in monkeys, and to try to develop AIDS vaccine. We isolate primate retroviruses (HTLV/STLV) and lentiviruses (HIV/SIV) from all over the world and perform the phylogenetic analyses to elucidate their origins and viral disseminations from a molecular evolutinary viewpoint.
