Message to the prospective students

We are doing science in the interdisciplinary field under an international environment. Why don't you join our group?
Research areas Organic Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, Supramolecular Chemistry, Nanoscience, Nanomedicine
Keywords carbon nanotubes, graphene, nanodiamond, nanoparticles, drug delivery, imaging probe, structural separation, chemical functionalization
Themes The concept of our research is to apply methodology in organic chemistry to nanomaterials including carbon nanotubes (CNTs), nanodiamond (ND), graphene and various kind of nanoparticles. Our work is classified into the following two subjects; 1) structural separation of CNTs and grapheme through host-guest chemistry, and 2) chemical functionalization of ND, CNTs, graphene, and metal oxide nanoperticles, and their biomedical applications. In the former, we developed optical resolution of CNTs by tweezer- and caliper-shaped host molecules named "nanotweezers" and "nanocalipers", respectively. In the latter, the nanomaterials are well-dispersed in a physiological environment by coating with polyglycerol (PG). We further functionalize the PG-coated nano particles with targeting peptide and/or anti-cancer drug for drug delivery.
