　美学に向けたカルチュラル・スタディーズの挑戦　　　　The Challenge of Cultural Studies for Aesthetics

概要

　あらゆるものが文化と呼ばれている現代において、それぞれの分野に細分化された我々の知には何が起こっているのだろうか。多文化主義の時代における美学とはどのようなものだろうか。この講演では、美学を純粋で自己完結的な教義として考えることをやめ、多元的で包括的な視点から捉え直してみたい。我々はカルチュラル・スタディーズの挑戦を受け入れ、今日の多文化主義的な社会に向き合う必要がある。つまり、美学は自民族中心的な視点を乗り越え、順応主義や衒学趣味を避けるためにも、現代的でマージナルな問題にも立ち向かわなければならないのである。　　　　Today, it’s said, everything is culture. Clothing, sport, sexuality, food, are not other than culturalexpressions spreading very complex messages whose decodes requires sophisticated knowledgeand thought agility, together with a critic knowledge that must be wide, articulated and above allflexible.Also aesthetics, if stops thinking of itself as a discipline pure and self-sufficient and it assumesa pluralistic and inclusive vision, is today called to critically confront itself with the universe ofcultural studies. Despite of many limits of this field of studies, having to do with the set of thedisciplines which study the complexities of “culture” term and the attached political uses, it isnecessary to accept the challenges which come from this kind of studies without escaping fromthe experience of the conflict and of the difference. It means overcoming an ethnocentric pointof view and confronting with marginal or alternative experiences coming from contemporaryfeeling avoiding the conformism as much as the pedantry.
